FCT Police Probe Bribery At

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has ordered an investigation into allegations that a member of the public was asked to pay N450,000 for the “mobilisation and petition” of a case at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The allegation was made in a video circulating on social media by a content creator identified as Tumma Gabriel who claimed that he was asked to provide the money while attempting to bring a matter before the police for investigation.

Reacting to the allegation, the FCT commissioner of police,  Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said the command does not condone solicitation or demand for money from members of the public by police officers in connection with investigations.

The commissioner directed an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegation and identify any officer who may have been involved.

The command said any officer found culpable would face disciplinary action in accordance with the provisions of the Police Act and Regulations.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the police also urged Gabriel to come forward and assist the investigation by providing information that could help identify the alleged officer.

The command provided 08180382808 as a contact number for the complainant to reach the police and arrange a visit to the FCT Police Headquarters, Abuja.
