LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: Five Male Nigerian Tech Talents To Watch In 2027

From cloud computing to electric vehicles, these five Nigerians have achievements worth following. This is an editorial watchlist, based on their work so far.

  1. Nathan Nwachuku

The Terra Industries co-founder is building a business around drones and autonomous security systems. His focus on protecting infrastructure puts him in a demanding field where engineering, manufacturing and reliability must work together.

  1. Maxwell Maduka

Nwachuku’s fellow Terra co-founder deserves attention in his own right. His engineering work centres on locally developed unmanned systems. As Terra expands manufacturing, translating technical ambition into dependable products will be an important test to follow.

  1. Joshua Agboola

Agboola earned the AWS Certified Developer Associate qualification at 13 in 2023. The certification tested cloud development, deployment and troubleshooting skills. His early technical grounding makes his next software projects worth watching as he develops beyond that milestone.

  1. Silas Adekunle

Known for the MekaMon gaming robot, Adekunle now co-leads Reach Industries. Its Lumi platform uses visual AI to support scientific laboratory work. He also co-founded Awarri, which develops AI technology with Nigerian languages and talent in view.

  1. Mustapha Gajibo

The African Motor Works founder develops electric vehicles, including buses and tricycles. His work addresses a practical Nigerian concern: reducing dependence on petrol for everyday transport.
