Kebbi State House of Assembly has adopted the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) presented to it by Governor Nasir Idris.
The bill was passed after presenting its report at the Assembly’s sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, by the Joint Committee on Finance and Appropriation and that of Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning and Due Process, led by Adamu Mohammed Birnin Yauri.
Yauri said the bill would guide the government on annual budget estimates, ensure consistency with Kebbi’s Development Plans as well as maximise all available and potential economic opportunities while prioritising people- oriented programmes and projects.
According to him, the bill is also in compliance with the laws governing public financial management as contained in the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and in conformity with the relevant Kebbi State laws, including: the Kebbi State
Finance Management Law 2017, which provides for the control and management of finances, Kebbi State Fiscal Responsibility (Revised) Law 2021, Kebbi State Public Procurement Law 2021 and the Kebbi State Audit Law 2020.
The bill reflects a realistic projection for the 2027 to 2031 Medium-term Expenditure in compliance with the global and domestic economic climate and internally-generated revenue intensification.
The House will transmit the bill to Governor Idris for assent in due course.
