30 Killed As Two High-Speed Trains Collide In Spain

At least 30 people have been killed and around 100 injured after two high-speed trains carrying about 500 passengers collided in Spain’s Toledo province, according to a local government official.

Spain’s Prime Minister described the incident as a “serious” crash as authorities responded to the accident.

According to CNN, the collision occurred on Wednesday while the trains were travelling along the route linking Madrid, the Spanish capital, with Seville.

The country’s railway infrastructure manager, ADIF, confirmed the accident, following which services on the high-speed line connecting the Madrid region with Andalusia were suspended.

The latest incident adds to a series of rail disasters recorded in Spain in 2026.

In January, two high-speed trains collided near Adamuz, in the southern province of Córdoba, killing more than 40 people.

Days later, a commuter train derailed near Barcelona, raising further concerns over railway safety in the country.
