The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has listed Malam Muhammad Nami as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State ahead of the February 6, 2027, governorship election.
Nami’s name was among those of 15 candidates published by INEC at its headquarters.

Others are Abdulmalik Saidu Akpayi of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bello Isah Mohammed of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Mohammed Usman of the Labour Party (LP), Mohammed Yahaya Adam of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Sani Alfa of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Adamu Ibrahim of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Mohammed Ndarani of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Umaru Larat Aliyu of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Kolo Mohammed Aminu of the YPP.
The publication of Nami’s name has sparked jubilation among his supporters in Niger State.
In a press statement released by the Muhammad Nami Media Directorate at the weekend in Minna, the supporters expressed excitement over the development.
The statement read: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published its final list of governorship candidates for the February 6, 2027, governorship election and listed Mallam Muhammad Nami as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State.
“This development authenticates the candidacy of Mallam Muhammad Nami as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and clearly shows that he is not affected by the recent judgment obtained by INEC at the Supreme Court.
“By this development, all supporters of Muhammad Nami are urged to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the ongoing collection exercise being conducted by INEC in preparation to vote for the PDP candidate as governor of Niger State in the 2027 general elections, to put the state back on the path of progress and greatness.”
Some supporters interviewed also expressed satisfaction with the development, saying it had met the aspirations of the people of the state, contrary to what they described as the expectations of the ruling APC.
One of the supporters, Mohammed Baba, expressed confidence in Nami’s chances, insisting that his emergence would usher in a new era for the state.
“Nami is coming, and Niger State shall be great again,” he said.
